Chancel Choir & Steel Pan Ensemble

The Chancel Choir and the Steel Pan Ensemblelead the congregation in praising and praying to God through song and music.  The Chancel Choir and Steel Pan Ensemble are also available for events sponsored by the Jamaica Deanery and Parish Activity Committee.  Membership is open to anyone willing to rehearse regularly and sing and play during worship.  During this pandemic, choir records themselves, sends records to the Minister of Music who masters the various recordings into movies that are played during worship services.  Both groups are directed by the Minister of Music..

Church School

This vibrant ministry seeks to guide children (aged 3 - 18) in their knowledge and love of God.  After classes were interrupted by the pandemic, the teachers formed a partnership with churches in the Jamaica Deanery and beyond to develop a curriculum and offer classes via Zoom.  Zoom Church School classes are offered every Sunday with in person events (a fall Stewardship Activity, Easter Egg Hunt and Year End Ceremony).  All children are welcome.  Teachers are Church members.

IT Council

The Information Technology Council advises the Priest and Vestry so that the church can effectively use technology for administrative work, property management, communications, information storage and security and evangelism.  Members also support the selection and installation of hardware and software and manage the broadcasting of Sunday and Pastoral Services.  While experience and knowledge are helpful, training is provided so any interested person is welcome to serve.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers & Eucharistic Visitors

Lay Eucharistic Ministers are members of the altar party.  While their primary role is administering the chalice, they are also expected to read lessons, lead the Psalm, or lead the prayers during worship.   Some Lay Eucharistic Ministers take Communion to homebound and sick members.  The priest selects, trains and applies for members to be licensed as Lay Eucharistic Ministers.  Only adult members can be licensed to take Communion to sick and shut-in members.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are sometimes called “After People.”  They are there . . .

AFTER…the phone call you hoped you’d never get.
AFTER…the funeral, when everyone has left and the emotions you’ve held at bay come crashing in on you.
AFTER…the relationship falls apart and the bottom falls out of your life.
AFTER…the doctor says “I’m sorry, but there’s nothing more we can do.”
AFTER…the nursing home director shakes your hand and says “welcome to your new home.”
AFTER…the last child honks the horn waves, and drives away, and the house suddenly seems          empty.
AFTER…the gavel comes down, the handcuffs go on, and your loved one is led away.
AFTER…the baby arrives, demanding more of you than you ever dreamed possible.
AFTER…you find a pink slip with your final paycheck.
AFTER…your family and friends have heard your story one too many times, but you still need to talk it out.

Stephen Ministers participate in the pastoral care provided by priest and Lay Eucharistic Visitors.  They are trained to offer one on one care to people in crisis brought on by illness, death, relocation, financial setback or other circumstance.  Ministers meet monthly for peer supervision and planning sessions.  Care is provided upon referral from the priest, members or direct request.  Lay Eucharistic Visitors are encouraged to participate in the monthly meetings. Participation in this ministry follows referral by the priest and Stephen Ministry training

Usher Guild

Ushers support the worship life of the congregation by offering a warm welcome, distributing bulletins or fliers and seating members and visitors.  Because of pandemic, Ushers also register worshippers by taking temperatures, records names and phone numbers, check vaccination status, distributing masks and reminding people to sanitize their hands upon entry and before receiving Communion.  They collaborate with the Altar Guild and serve Sundays, weekdays, Feast and Fast Days and at Pastoral Services.  Membership is open to anyone willing to serve.  Outgoing people are ideally suited for this ministry.
